No Plan Survives Contact With the Enemy

Summary: Thancred pulling an infiltration mission behind the wall into Ala Mhigo that went nine kinds of FUBAR, and causing an eternal Noodle Incident To Never Speak Of Again for Gaius and Nero.
Warnings: Not overmuch; some violence but nothing too bad.
Notes: There's a reference to another drabble-fragments that I need to find and post about his interactions with Ala Mhigan resistance; the "feathered pest" comment is referencing them calling him "Magpie" to avoid any mention of name, nationality, or other clues.
Also running with the headcanon that the old Circle being referenced as "Archons" was part of the garbling on the usage of the word and that they're not normal themselves, which I feel somewhat justified in considering that they don't seem to age normally while other NPC's do.

Chapter Summary: Thancred's coping mechanisms include equal parts "try to find something else to do" and "OH LOOK, A DISTRACTING THING!", with occasional constructive edges of trying to figure out what the Hell even.
Warnings: Nothing direct that's a real warning. Thancred going distraction-chasing when he's not together enough for it to even be anything spectacular might be worth a minor one.

Also for those not canon familiar, some footnotes in advance: Bells = about an hour. The day's broken up into four cycles of six one-hour segments that're roughly matched to the elemental cycle/Twelve gods. Yalm = a little longer than a yard, malm if that got mentioned is somewhere between a km and a mile. “Hyur” is what humans got called by everyone else when they showed up. Roegadyn are massive (average about 7-feet) and built a little like tanks; Lalafell are at most maybe two and a half to three feet tall, Elezen = vaguely elf-like though they're bad at matching most other world's elves.
